DESIGN OF A RECTIFIER & DC-DC BUCK CONVERTER

This paper presents the design and testing of a rectifier circuit and a DC-DC buck converter with the goal of converting 230Vrms AC input at 50Hz to a stable 48V DC ±10%. The rectifier circuit utilizes a step-down transformer, and component selection is based on calculated values for minimum ripples and losses. A Zener diode is introduced for output voltage stability. MATLAB simulations verify circuit performance. For the DC-DC buck converter, a MOSFET serves as the switching component, achieving higher efficiency compared to the rectifier circuit. Both circuits exhibit efficiency, with the unregulated power supply reaching 91%, minimal ripple current, and suitability for diverse electronic instrumentation and power supply applications.

DIGITAL LED CLOCK

This project explores the concept of a digital clock, a timekeeping device that departs from traditional analog clock faces by displaying time digitally using electronic displays with numerals or symbols. Digital clocks, commonly found in homes, offices, schools, and public spaces, offer accuracy and versatility. The focus of this project is on creating a digital clock using Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to display the current time. LED digital clocks share functionality with traditional digital clocks and are known for their easy-to-read displays and low power consumption. They can be programmed to display time in various formats and time zones, providing reliability and accuracy. Additionally, LED digital clocks may feature alarms, countdown timers, and temperature displays, making them suitable for diverse settings.

A MATLAB Based Analysis & Design of Passive Band Pass Filter for FM Broadband Frequency Range (87.5MHz – 108MHz)

FM radio broadcasting is a common communication service in Ghana, using analogue transmission systems like Frequency Modulation (FM). A crucial component in FM broadcasting is the passive bandpass filter, which allows specific frequency ranges to pass while blocking others. These filters use resistors, capacitors, and inductors to isolate and transmit FM frequencies efficiently, making them essential for both communication and audio systems

HAND-FREE HANDWASHING STATION

Handwashing is crucial for maintaining health and preventing complications. With COVID-19 raising concerns about contact, hands-free washing devices became necessary to limit disease spread. However, many existing handwashing stations, like Veronica buckets, do not conserve water. To address this, our team developed a hands-free handwashing station that conserves water. The project followed three phases: idea generation, brainstorming with design thinking tools, and implementation through material selection, prototyping, and coding. The result is an affordable, water-efficient solution designed to improve hygiene.

Cognitive Radio (CR) is an intelligent wireless communication system that detects available channels and adapts accordingly. It senses its environment (cognitive capability), analyzes it (self-organizing capability), and adjusts its behavior (reconfigurable capability). CR learns from its actions and uses intelligent signal processing (ISP) combined with software-defined radio (SDR) to operate efficiently at the physical layer of wireless systems.

Design and Control of Micro Power Grids

Microgrids are local energy systems that can operate independently from the main grid, often utilizing renewable energy sources like solar and wind. They offer solutions for regions with inconsistent electricity access, improving sustainability and resilience. This project explores microgrid control systems, hierarchical architectures, and challenges in renewable energy integration. It covers design methods for efficient power management and discusses ongoing research aimed at overcoming barriers to broader microgrid adoption. The project also highlights microgrid benefits such as cost savings, environmental sustainability, and reliable energy access in both grid-connected and islanded modes.

Optical Heartbeat Monitor Instrument

This heart rate monitoring system uses an IR LED and photodiode to detect heartbeats. The signal passes through filters and amplifiers to remove noise and produce a clean output. An ADC converts the signal to digital, which is then processed by an Arduino microcontroller and displayed on an LCD. The system also provides real-time feedback through LEDs and can be monitored using an oscilloscope. It is designed to measure heart rates ranging from 68 to 180 bpm, covering both resting and exercise conditions.

Effect of Fiber Reinforcements on the Mechanical Properties of a Clay-Matrix

Composites combine two or more materials to achieve properties unattainable individually (Askeland et al., 2011). Historically significant, they have evolved from mud and straw bricks in ancient civilizations to essential components in modern manufacturing, such as vehicle chassis and aerospace parts (Johnson, 2019). Key benefits of composites include high corrosion resistance, design flexibility, and improved strength-to-weight ratios. This paper explores an experiment analyzing how fibre reinforcement affects the mechanical properties of a clay matrix

Mathematical Modeling and Simulation of SIR Model for COVID-19 Epidemic Outbreak:
A Case Study of India

India, with over 1 billion people, reported its first COVID-19 case on January 20, 2020. Daily cases peaked at about 30,000 during the second wave in April-May 2021. Despite high infection risks from population density and limited healthcare, vaccination efforts and the warm climate helped control the spread. This paper uses the SIR model to analyze the outbreak, factoring in lockdowns, social distancing, and mask-wearing from May 7, 2020. The aim is to forecast the peak and end of COVID-19 to enhance management strategies for healthcare providers and organizations.
